1. Ruppione Beach – Pietrosella’s Hidden Gem
Located in the charming village of Pietrosella, Ruppione Beach is one of the most popular beaches in the Gulf of Ajaccio. Its soft white sand, shallow turquoise waters and exceptional clarity make it an ideal destination for families with children.
Backed by pine trees and Mediterranean scrubland, the beach also offers welcome natural shade during the late afternoon.
Only a few minutes from the Isolella Peninsula, Ruppione remains far less crowded than many beaches closer to Ajaccio. Several beachfront restaurants serve delicious Corsican cuisine with your feet in the sand.

2. Mare e Sole Beach – The Famous Silver Beach
Known locally as Plage d’Argent (“Silver Beach”), Mare e Sole owes its nickname to the shimmering reflections created by its dazzling white sand beneath the Corsican sun.
Located just south of Ruppione, it offers an even more natural and peaceful setting.
A short walk from the main road helps preserve its tranquillity, making it one of the area’s most authentic beaches. Crystal-clear water, a gently sloping sandy seabed and a relaxed atmosphere make it perfect for those seeking peace and nature.

3. Isolella Beach – Where the Gulf Meets the Mediterranean
Situated at the tip of the Isolella Peninsula, Isolella Beach enjoys a spectacular location where the Gulf of Ajaccio opens onto the Mediterranean Sea.
From here, visitors enjoy magnificent views of the Corsican mountains on one side and endless sea views on the other.

4. Ricanto Beach – Ajaccio’s Main Sandy Beach
In complete contrast to the secluded beaches of Pietrosella, Ricanto Beach is Ajaccio’s largest urban beach, conveniently located close to the airport.
Stretching for several hundred metres, it offers everything needed for a full day by the sea: sun loungers, beach bars, water sports and plenty of space to relax.
It is also an excellent choice if you plan to combine a beach break with shopping or a visit to Ajaccio’s historic centre.

5. The Sanguinaires Islands Beaches – An Unforgettable Experience
Located at the entrance to the Gulf of Ajaccio, the Sanguinaires Islands form a spectacular archipelago that can only be reached by boat from Ajaccio Harbour, with crossings taking approximately 20 to 30 minutes.
The small beaches surrounding these dramatic reddish granite islands are among the most photographed landscapes in Corsica.
Boat excursions depart regularly from Ajaccio and usually include swimming stops. Visitors can also rent a rigid inflatable boat (RIB) to explore the islands independently.
